Gear the Globe

This shipping container is used to help collect gear for people around the world who love lacrosse but may not have the necessary equipment to play the sport they have a passion for. Gear the Globe is an organization that aims to supply used lacrosse equipment to teams world-wide. The non-profit operation was started by Sam Cardella, a 9th grade student from Mendham, NJ. Gear the Globe (GTG) has partnered with STEPS Lacrosse, where Sam is a player for the 2022 White team, to help grow the sport of lacrosse to countries such as Haiti, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Argentina, Jamaica, Chile and the Haudenosaunee nation. The shipping container will be traveling to different lacrosse tournaments across the Northeast. Its final destination will be at the FIL Women’s World Championship Qualifier game on November 14th, at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex located in Auburndale, Florida. Sam has caught the attention of many people in the lacrosse community. The CEO and founder of STEPS Lacrosse, Charlie Shoulberg, praised Sam’s philanthropic efforts. “Gear the Globe is an amazing initiative by Sam Cardella! For a 9th grader to come up with the concept and bring it to life is truly inspirational. STEPS Lacrosse fully supports her efforts and looks forward to seeing all her hard work help grow the game globally!”. Katherine Loh, the Secretary General of the Pan-American Lacrosse Association, also had something to say about Sam and GTG. “I am so impressed with Sam’s enthusiasm and drive. She came up with a great idea and campaign. I can’t wait to see the results.” Gear the Globe is currently looking for interested girls lacrosse players to join the Global Ambassador Program to help spread the word about GTG. If interested, please contact Taylor Everson, a founding Global Ambassador Director, at For more information about where GTG is going next and how to get the container at your event, visit and follow @geartheglobe on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
