NJ TOC Lacrosse Finals Recap - Mens and Womens

The 2019 Tournament of Champions was a story for the ages. The matchup was much anticipated, Mountain Lakes vs Delbarton, two longtime Morris County Rivals with a deep history. Mountain Lakes were the underdogs heading into the game but that didn't stop them from beating Delbarton 12-5 in a decisive victory. Delbarton had beaten them two times previously in the same season but Mountain Lakes came into this game with a different game plan. From the first whistle Delbarton was able to score two goals quickly but then Mountain Lakes struck back by scoring 4 straight goals in the same quarter. For the rest of the game Mountain Lakes managed the game. Their offense steadily attacked the net while their defense came up big and held Delbarton to only 5 goals. This was the third time that Mountain Lakes has won the TOC snapping Delbartons streak of winning the TOC 3 times in a row. The girls Tournament of Champions was a much closer game that came down to the very end. Oak Knoll beat Moorestown 10-8 . This was a back and forth game but the first half was where Oak Knoll won the game, scoring seven goals to Moorestown’s five. Early in the second half, the game was tied 7-7 then Oak Knoll was able to pull away again. Moorestown was favored to win this game because they had the experience. This was the second year in a row for them being in the Tournament of Champions. This didn't seem to Oak Knoll as they seemed ready from the start of the first whistle. This was the second time that Oak Knoll has won the Tournament of Champions, the last time was in 2015.
