PLL Lacrosse - Week 5 Recap

Image result for premier lacrosse league Week five of the PLL was another thriller. The weekend began with the Atlas facing off against the Archers. Turnovers were the main story in the first half for the Atlas. Although they won 75% of faceoffs, the turned the ball over seven times, allowing the Archers to go into halftime with the lead. Paul Rabil wouldn't go down quietly however. The Atlas went on a five to one run as Rabil scored twice. It was tough to come back from that as the Atlas narrowly escaped week five with a 13-12 victory. Both teams now sit at 2-3 and towards the bottom of the PLL standings. The league moves to D.C. next week where the Archers meet up with the 3-2 Redwoods on Saturday at 5pm. The Atlas will try and improve on a so far disappointing season by extending their win streak against the 4-1 Whipsnakes. Both of these games will be played at Audi Field. The second game of week five saw another matchup ending in overtime. Things were uneven early. The Chaos started the game with a four goal barrage that would eventually turn into a 7-1 first quarter lead. The Chrome came out in the second quarter with a purpose. They went into the half on a five to one run. The game mostly went back and forth from there. With a 12-11 lead in the fourth, Jarrod Neumann of the Chaos sent in a two point nuke to bring the lead to 14-11. However, the Chrome were desperate to win their first game of the season. They stormed back with three goals and sent the game into overtime. Deemer Class ended things with a sudden death goal that gave the Chaos a 15-14 overtime victory, putting them into first place with a record of 4-1. Things couldn't be going worse for the Chrome as they fall to 0-5 and sit alone on the bottom of the PLL standings as the only winless team. These two teams face off again next week in Washington D.C.

Week five came to a close with a Woods Whips matchup. In a defensive heavy matchup, the fireworks didn't go off until late. Tim Troutner, goalie for the Redwoods, put on a show with 17 saves. The game was close late as Ryan Drenner, with ice in his veins yet again, scored and cut the Redwoods lead to one. Another Whipsnakes goal tied the game at 11 late in the fourth. However, the Redwoods took this one in the end after Kavanagh assisted Adams on the final goal to give the woods a 14-11 victory. The Redwoods ended the Whipsnakes four game winning streak and sent them to second in the standings. Their victory put them over .500 and into third place. With another week in the books, the PLL will look to continue the success of it's inaugural season in Washington D.C.
