A FOGO's Friends for 2017

Over the past couple of years, the face off specialist has quickly become one of the most prominent roles on a lacrosse team. Dominating the X usually mends dominating time of possession and the other team can't score if they don't have the ball! With FOGOs becoming more and more important every year, we figured we'd take a look at some of the hottest equipment a FOGO could have.
  1. What many believe is the best face off weapon on the market right now, is the STX Duel. The most obvious innovation is the throat of the head. Unlike most heads that go over the shaft, the Duel is actually inserted into the shaft which allows the face off middie's hand to get closer to the head which creates a little bit of added leverage. STX also implemented specific flex zones into the head which allows for an unrestricted range of motion to prevent warping over time. STX also added their patented scalloped scoop design to the Duel to make groundballs seemingly effortless. Greg "The Beast" Gurenlian, MLL face off specialist, even reviewed it and loved it. If its good enough for the beast its good enough for anybody looking to take a few face offs.
  2. Brine has been involved with lacrosse for as long as I can remember, so it's shocking that they just recently developed their first face-off centered product; the Brine Dictator. The head is available in two different models, each with unique flex profiles designed for different face off techniques. The ST model is made with a stiffer proprietary blend to muscle out opponents. The Dictator uses a more flexible material ideal for more tactical and technical face off moves. Tapered rail design with strategic core-tech creates the perfect pinch and increased feel while remaining legal by NFHS and NCAA legal standards.
  3. One of Nike's most popular lacrosse heads, the CEO has quickly become one of the favorites among face off men. weighing in at 4.9 ounces, its one of the lightest face off heads around, which inevitably increases the speed of the clamp. The pinched scoop and face of the CEO make groundball possession and retention easy! Nike is still relatively new to lacrosse, excited to see the future of Nike Lacrosse.
  4. If time has proven anything, it's that the Warrior OG Blade is one of the most trusted weapons at the X. 16 years later, Warrior OG BladeWarrior revamped the OG Blade to meet today's standards of play. If you're a face off specialist, the OG Blade has to be one of the weapons in your arsenal.
Whether you've been around the block a couple of times or you're just starting out, the lacrosse heads listed above are more than capable of satisfying your every need on the lacrosse field as a face off specialist. All options are available at your local Universal Lacrosse locations or shop online at Universal Lacrosse.
